History & today
CooP-Kenya has three enterprises: the social projects, African Bicycle Design and Bikeventures. Those three enterprises are ran by a local team. From 2007 to 2011 CooP-Kenya had 6 staff-members working on the three enterprises at an office in the city centre of Kisumu. In 2012 the building of a new office and workshop in the Manyattas of Kisumu started and the office in the city centre was closed. The staff was reduced to two employees. The opening of the new office and workshop, called The Green Hub, was March 2015 - the building process took more time than planned. In the years between the old office and the new Green Hub the activity of CooP-Kenya was minimal. With the opening of the Green Hub, CooP-Kenya has the opportunity to boost all the projects and have a sort of new start. Therefore, in October 2015, 10 new people will start working for CooP-Kenya. The total of staff members then will be 14 local people and they will be working on the three enterprises. At this moment CooP-Africa finances all three enterprises. Therefore CooP-Kenya has to justify their finances, the year planning and their goals and development to CooP-Africa.

Vision & mission
CooP-Kenya’s vision and mission are mainly the same as CooP-Africa’s vision and mission: to decrease poverty in the east of Africa by initiating and promoting bike-interventions. In this way CooP is creating jobs and is it supporting the local economy and gives locals the opportunity to be self-reliant through their own local enterprise.

Projects
From its office, the Green Hub, CooP-Kenya is working on the following projects:
The social projects
These are projects that make schools, jobs, hospitals and healthcare accessible by providing bicycles. The current projects are Bike4School, Bike4Work and Bike4Care.
African Bicycle Design
African Bicycle Design is an enterprise that designs, produces and sells bicycles in the workshop at the Green Hub.
Green Distribution:
Green Distribution distributes lifesaving and life-standard improving products.
Bikeventures
Bikeventures is an enterprise that offers bike-tours, bike-rentals and safaris for leisure activities and tourists.

The future
All three enterprises contribute to developing the local economy and decreasing poverty. However, the main goal of CooP-Kenya is to become self-sufficient and to expand on the social projects. The social projects are projects that will always need financial support. The African Bicycle Design and Bikeventures are enterprises set up with the intention to finance the social projects and to make CooP-Kenya a self-sufficient closed system. In order to accomplish this, Bikeventures is the enterprise that this project will focus on.
