Nelson Mandela
Born a member of the Thembu royal family, Nelson Rolihlahla 'Madiba' Mandela studied law at Fort Hare University and the University of Witwatersrand. He quickly became a prominent member of the African National congress. Known for his fight against apartheid, his tackling of institutionalized racism and fostering national reconciliation he holds deep respect in South Africa. He is often referred to as the father of the Nation.
Miriam Makeba
Zenzile Miriam Makeba, AKA Mama Africa, was a well-known South African singer and civil rights activist. She is best known for her 1957 hit song "Pata Pata" and has recorded with famous artists such as Harry Belafonte and Paul Simon.

Die Antwoord is a internatinally known post-mordern hip-hop from South-Africa. They're style "Zef" is part of a counter-culture movement of post-apartheid lower-middle class white South Africans. As they put it "Zef" means "You are poor but fancy. You've got style". They have had several international tours since their first album in 2009.
Neill Blomkamp
Neill Blomkamp is a South-African/Canadian film director, writer, producer and animator. He attracted the attention of Peter Jackson with his short film "Live in Jo'burg". This helped the production of the feature length film "District 9" which's story was based on the short film. Since then he has released a few more Hollywood blockbusters including "Elysium" and "Chappie".
Trevor Noah
Trevor Noah is a South African Comedian that became internationally known in the last 5 years. Born from a black South African mother and a white Swiss Father, his birth was a crime under Apartheid politics. He has appeared on several American Talk Show's since 2010. He is now Jon Stewarts' replacement as the host of The Daily Show.
