Problem definition
Since the plastic waste project counts various stakeholders with different needs and desires, there are different problems and outcomes for different stakeholders.
Up until now the project lead by Charlot and Gaspard from Better Future Factory showed that people are interested in the technique and are willing to work on the project, but there are no concrete products that can be sold yet. There is little knowledge of the inhabits of Lima's interest in (buying) products made out of plastic waste.
One of the main project goals is to design innovative prototypes, but in order to design those we need to know what kind of products the citizens of Lima need or would buy.
Thus, a market research is essential for the further development of the project. By this mean we can find out what kind of products are desirable and should be produced. Besides that, the market research will also give insight to peoples' willingness to pay for this project produced out of recycled plastic PET-bottles.
Next to a market research, it is very important to show people the potential of the plastic material. This can be done by giving workshops and present people a few prototypes made by the plastic waste Lima team.
By introducing people to the material and its potentials we'll raise awareness for the pollution problem. The market research will give us profoundly information about people's needs and desires. Since our mission is to combine local talents of the Peruvian society with the potentials of plastic waste in order to create valuable products and stimulate local entrepreneurship, we're going to use these outcomes of the market research to produce a legitimate business proposal.
