PPHPZ is a very busy foundation and they do a lot of things synchronically. It was necessary for us to specifically define the project. So we chose to do two projects to pursue our mission and use everyone's expertise. The first part of the project is the design of a multipurpose centre. For this project we will interview locals and try to design the multipurpose centre to their needs and as efficient as possible. The needs of the population in Chazanga will be determined by means of interviews. The most efficient way to build the multipurpose centre will be determined by means of several criteria. The two most important criteria are less use of building materials and an energy saving building. In the end we deliver a concept plan to build the multipurpose centre. As mentioned in the introduction, the multipurpose centre can function as a model for other houses. This is because the same building techniques can be applied and the same construction can be used. We won’t start the actual building project. In the second project we are going to do research into building materials. We did some research in earlier projects and hope that we can continue this research or start a cooperation with other companies in Zambia who do research into low-cost building materials. We intend to test a number of building materials to see which one is most suitable to local needs. In the section Project Structure the planning of our project is discussed in more detail.
