4.2. Consider to design an innovative technological solution and explain why and how this solution connects the current state with the desired future, and makes sustainability transition (system wise and in daily life) happen.

A solution could be a mix of online and traditional education. So a mix of classroom activities and online learning. High schools will cooperate on a national level, to give colleges on general topics for all students. Local high schools add local topics, among others for Texel a sustainable island topic. This will of course be facilitated by provided smart boards, laptops, simulation devices, etc.

This will most likely keep the students of high schools at the island, but still have the opportunity to have education from the mainland. They are only not physically there, but digitally. The Texel identity will then be maintained, so we assume.

So this will give rise to higher quality education from the mainland, while the youngsters can stay at the island. Meanwhile, they can follow local courses focussed on the sustainability of the island. Teachers will have to adapt their courses, institutions will have to collaborate on a national level. The government will have to creditize the new national courses. Youngers can learn more at home, at their own free will, contributing to the ‘adaptive learning’ concept. Moreover, they will have more contact with their parents, because of the growing trend of working at home. It will be a true systems change, facilitated by the digitalisation.
