The farm as a connecting meeting center for all actors that are playing a role in het socio-technical system of managing organic matter. The state of organic matter management now is on low level. The processing of organic matter is the final step of a production process. Waste is seen as useless, something people have to get rid from. In a future scenario we want that the output of an organic food process, can be the input for a following process. The processing of organic matter should become a circular process, in where waste isn’t seen as waste anymore. This needs a systematic change of the production process.The technical solution of this system will be worked out in the upcoming paragraphs.
Why does it connect the current state to desired future?
We want Texel to become an island where organic matter is used in circular processes. This concept cannot be worked out directly over the whole island.The farm will be an example of the closed loop system concept, and should inspire the rest of the island. The farm will involve the different actors as the local and business companies, inhabitants, tourists and municipality to the realize the farm. All the actors should be needed in the organisation of the farm.
How does it connect the current state to desired future?
All the actors are connected and integrated into one system. Working together is an important aspect of this system. For this concept it is important to work out the design of the system before, try out the concept and develop it.
