Texel – 2065
It is a sunny morning when we arrive at the Texel ferry in Den Helder, it is its last ride, from tomorrow the transport from the island will be made by flying buses, and no car will be allowed in the island anymore. I see in the horizon the Texel windmills, and then I finally arrive at the island.
It has been a long time since I have been here, but most look the same from before. I take a Texel car with a stranger and the car drops me at my hotel in ten minutes. In my way I see the landscape, the delivery drones and the farms.
I arrive at the hotel, and open the door by voice identification, there is nobody there, I get my keys and leave my bags at the room. I will still have time to see the beach before going to the conference. I arrive at the beach, it is full of tourists, the island maximum capacity has been achieved so nobody can get in anymore, this was the only way the municipality found to preserve its nature. My chip in my ear vibrates and I know it is time to go for the conference, I call a Texel car and it arrives in 5 minutes.
I finally arrive at the TexelGlobal, where they are going to present the new drone system that will substitute the Texel cars. Many people complain about and say it will never work, but it is always like this, in five years I will come back and I am sure these drones will be my new transport.
