Its an exciting day today. My daughter is ons a business trip to Mars, so I have to take care of her children for the week. I planned a fully booked day stuffed with interesting activities. First I will print them some lovely breakfast. It is amazing how in depended we became on this field. I remember how back in the days we had to go out several days a week to buy food, drag around with full grocery backs. And sometimes your favorite ingredient was missing. Can you imagine that? Ingredients? Live became so much easier. I just order a packages of food-filaments ones year and my printer transforms them in the most beautiful dishes. This morning I woke up a little bit earlier to make them an extra lunch breakfast. Croissant with ‘fresh’ juice just take a little bit longer. After the children fed themselves we took the magnetic train to the beautiful island of Texel, or last piece of nature in the Netherlands. This area is very special for the Netherlands since it was one of the first communities to become totally sustainable. Since they had a very strong policy protecting their nature and at the same time trying to become 100% self sufficient this is the last piece of open land the Netherlands has. Since the rest of our country did not start on time with a sustainable transition they could not protect their nature against the economic world taking of land with ugly buildings for storage of all of or useless stuff and transport facilities of this same stuff.
The magnetic train took us 10 minutes from Rotterdam. At Den Helder we had to take the Tasco, a very old fashion boat on which the Texel people are still very proud. They like to keep their independency. After a trip of 20 minutes on the boat we enter Texel. Here we take the Sagways, fully electronic to transport ourselves on the island. After watching the sheep and the other animals with the children we take a nice printed meal at the beach. It is amazing that you still have these open views at Texel, only far in the sea we see some little dots: the big windmill park the Texel community built together in 2019 to be totally self sufficient on energy in 2020.
