The first task within our scope is the design and construction of a water harvesting system. This is the most concrete task and also a very crucial one. Without a constant and well-functioning water supply, the harvest is doomed to fail.
Next to this, the following things will be done:
- A research on local farming techniques and the adaptive capacity of the local farmers. Are they willing to rent the greenhouse? What are their constraints?
- Creation of a Business Model for the rental of the greenhouse.
- A long term plan for the greenhouse. This will include a saving plan for the farmers and a detailed organizational plan. Who will be responsible for the greenhouse?
What will we not do?
- We will not build the greenhouse ourselves. This will be done by another student group. If necessary, we are able to help them if more hands are needed.
- We will not give courses in the greenhouse, this will also be done by the other group!
- Our vision is to reduce the poverty in the Bondo area by increasing the production and thereby the benefits of the farmers. The improvement of the education system or healthcare are essential to this, however this will not be within our scope.
