Research the capabilities of the local farmers

Research on knowledge, skills and capacity.

Last year, two students from the TU Delft did research on the local farmers in Bondo. They focused on the knowledge, skills and capacity. Visiting different types of smallholder farmers and conducting questionnaires was part of their research. This activity is divided in two stages:
1. Recovering the current greenhouse
2. Building a second greenhouse

Developing and designing a course on greenhouse farming

The content and structure of the course will be developed through knowledge exchange and workshops.

Last year’s research will serve as the fundament for the content of the course. The results show the level of knowledge and skills among the smallholder farmers, but also their needs. A list was made with compulsory modules for the course, including: Principles of greenhouse farming (an introduction) Constructing a greenhouse Greenhouse establishments Choice of crop: soil preparation, seed types
