Building the greenhouse(s)

This activity is divided in two stages:
1. Recovering the current greenhouse
2. Building a second greenhouse

The first activity consists of recovering the current greenhouse. This greenhouse built last year by the TU Delft students. After their departure, the greenhouse was used to grow crops for the university kitchen. Due to water shortage the harvest failed and it has not been used as intensive as before.
This greenhouse, once recovered, will serve for the purposes of the course and become the “education center”.

The second activity is building a new greenhouse. This will be a rental greenhouse for the smallholders who are not yet capable to afford their own after attending the course. The building of this greenhouse will happen later on in process of the project.

How are we going to do this?
With the help of JOOUST students and preferably a few enthusiastic farmers, the old and the new greenhouse will be set up. Recovering the first greenhouse will probably take several days, depending on its current state.

Building the second greenhouse will happen in a later stage in the project. Intentionally, we want to build this greenhouse in the form of a workshop given to farmers and students. For the development of the course, doing it this way will give us insight on which approach works, and how we can implement this in the final course.
The new greenhouse will come in a starter package including seed, soil and fertilizers. We assume an employee from the company will be there to help us with the constructing, as this was also the case last year. One thing to take in account is that the greenhouse needs to be replaceable.
