Objective/goal/mission

Also possible subgoals

Our mission is to make a marketing plan for the carpentry workshop at Sustainable Rural Initiatives (SRI) located in Kisumu, Kenya. With this marketing plan we want to gain more orders for the carpentry workshop. Besides this marketing plan we want to invest in the continuity of the workshop, so they become self-sufficient.

Research Questions

And subquestions

Research Questions:

How do increase the ordersize for the workshop?

  • What product can be most efficiently produced?
  • What product is mostly desired by enterprises in Kisumu?
  • What product generates the most profit?

What improvements are needed concerning the continuity of the workshop?

  • How can we motivate the employees?
  • How can we rise their confidence level?
  • How can we make sure they attend to work?
  • How do we make it appealing to work at the workshop?
  • How to optimalize the knowledge exchange?

  • How to cope with alternative scenarios/set backs
  • How to set up a marketing plan
  • How to create continuity within a business

Content/activities

The activities to be implemented the students should be listed.  Interviews, prototype building, desk research, market research etc., please specify and make an estimation of the time involved in completing them.

  • Desk research
  • Market research
  • Interviews
  • Conclusion from the interviews
  • Analyzing the project
  • Contribution to the continuation of the project

Timeline and milestones

It should be visible how the different activities are aligned with each other and (step-by-step: milestones!) lead to the intended results.

First stage of the project (increase order size)

  • integrate with the local community and get to know and respect their values
  • interview employees
  • look at competitors
  • create marketing tools
  • interview possible buyers in Kisumu
  • evaluate findings with Tina and Jowi
  • start new collaborations

Second stage of the project (stimulate continuity)

  • investigate where room for improvements lie
  • interview employees, suggestion box
  • interview management team
  • asses both interviews into a continuation plan
  • set up continuation plan

We are convinced that some unforeseen activities will arise, whilst we are there. Due to this, we expect that this set out planning wont be exactly similar to how we will operate in Okana. However we will take on these unforeseen possibilities by the best of our abilities.
