Currently inhabitants and tourists consume food from the main land and abroad; and the world is fed by Texel.Texel produces many local products. These form however only a small amount of daily consumption at the island. On the other hand, seed-potatoes are an important source of income for agriculture, and exported to 87 countries. To become sufficient and sufficiently efficient to feed the island, new technologies are needed, such as green walls, green roofs, aquaponics. Aiming for 100% self-sufficiency, how can the food consumption been matched?
