Research Proposal

In order to get more information regarding our sub-system in the actual location (Texel), it is important to speak with the locals and see what they think of our proposal

Research proposal for week at Texel.

Our ultimate goal for Texel 2065 is creating a self-sufficient food system in which importation of foods from the mainland isn’t necessary anymore. We’d like to realize this by not mainly increasing the production on the island itself, we think an important part of this change should be the promotion of the products grown on the island itself. We understand that making this change in the food system, eliminating import, will directly change the daily diet of the Texelaar. Maybe even create a special ‘schijf van vijf’ for Texel. We think this change could become less drastic if an initiative such as the ‘Allerhande’ would be created for the island.

A magazine, maybe even a platform, in which the locally produced foods will be highlighted. Not only by showcasing interviews with local farmers or producers, but also by giving examples of what can be done with these products; recipes, etc. This ‘magazine’ could be combined with food related events on the island.

During our week on Texel we’d like to investigate if the change we’ve come up would be accepted by the locals. We’d like to do this using several questionnaires;

  11. Als voor alle basis producten een Texels alternatief zou zijn, zou u bereid zijn alleen Texelse producten aan te schaffen? (ook tegen een iets hogere prijs)

  14. Waar haalt u uw inspiratie voor het koken vandaan?
  15. Bent u bekend met de verschillende boeren op Texel?

  1. Bent u geïnteresseerd in de Texelse keuken?
  2. Zou u bereid zijn uw alledaagse eetpatroon aan te passen als dit betekend dat Texel zelfvoorzienend kan worden?
  3. Zou u bereid zijn zelf deel te nemen in het voedsel proces/ eigen moestuin/ etc.
  4. Bent u bereid voornamelijk seizoensgebonden producten te kopen
  5. Zou u open staan voor ander soort eten, zoals zeewier?
