Feeding birds in winter

Do we need to feed birds during the winter months? The answer is NO

Of course, it's nice to see al those little birds in your garden, but when we start feeding them when there is more than enough to find in nature, they get lazy and thick. Even not when it's snowing. Though we might find is very sad, to see birds searching and the week one dying. This only survival of the fittest. So instead of helping them, making the species weak and lazy, we better design gardens where there is enough to eat for them.

With a garden design, where there is all year around the ground, flowers etc are preferable. Plans who stay green in the winter are:

* Viburnum tinus these have pollen they can eat them

* prunus laurocerasus the give birds and other species a hiding place for cold weather

* Vitus  or this kind of plants that give in October or November a reserve for the winter to eat
