Field research on Permanently Innovate

Research question(s)

How can Texelaars be motivated and inspired to engage in sustainable innovation?

Here motivation is the general willingness to contribute to sustainable innovation. Inspiration is having specific ideas on how to contribute. We see inspiration as dependent on motivation, as someone who is not motivated in a certain topic will not be inspired on it. Therefore, we split the research question into the following two sub questions.

  1. Are Texelaars motivated?
  2. When motivated, do Texelaars know how they can engage?

The answers to these questions will provide us with input for answering the main research question.

Data needed

Data needed for subquestion 1

  • are Texelaars intrinsically motivated to engage?
  • drivers for Texelaars to engage
  • barriers for Texelaars that withhold them to engage
    • how can these barriers be overcome?

 Data needed for subquestion 2

  • when motivated, do Texelaars know how they can contribute?
    • if yes, how do Texelaars contribute? (we could make a list of options and ask people to give their preference)
    • if not, how could Texelaars be inspired for a specific way to engage?

Research method

We choose to perform a survey among Texelaars, because every Texelaar is included in our target group. Since we are looking for opinions and mindsets, the most precise way is to ask people directly.

The survey is a combination of qualitative and quantitative questions. The ‘amount’ of motivation and inspiration will be measured on a quantitative scale. All other questions will be qualitative.

Research activities planned

For the survey, we don’t need to make an appointment. We will go out on the streets to ask people. We have not yet determined the specific survey location.
