This is a description of the sustainable lifestyles of the texelaars in the year 2065.
- You wake up in the morning and attend natures call. The toilets don’t use water any more. Super-bacteria immediately break down and transform waste into biogas once you flush.
- You take a shower: showers don’t spray water…they atomise water and nanoparticles that clean you up.
- Time to dress up. You walk into a capsule that covers you in a material that is rain proof, keeps you cool/warm and prevents sweating. The material is self-healing/memory material constructed from the (biodegradabe) milk cartons and soda bottles you threw away a few days ago.
- Late for work! You climb into your hyper-loop pod. Elon musk’s hyper-loop inc created solar pods with PV panels of 90 percent efficiency in 2040.
- On the way to work you look out your pod window to admire the massive (yet almost invisible) EWICON windmills. These bladeless windmills have been so seamlessly integrated in to the city and environment that texelaars barely notice that they are present. EWICON accounts for 70 percent of Texel’s energy needs.
- You arrive at Texel valley-station. An innovation environment that is next only to Silicon Valley. Texel valley is an innovation space for sustainable technologies. You unlock your bike and proceed towards your office. Bike paths are designed to generate electricity as you bike on them using advanced piezoelectric material. The more you bike, the more electricity you generate, the lower your taxes.
