Project organization
An organizational plan is required to make sure the project succeeds. First of all a small review of the stakeholders and their relations has been made. This has been done after a canvas model was filled in. The key partners from the TU Delft students in this project are the JOOUST University, Students4Sustainability and professor Andika, the professor of agriculture. Together they organize the project. A small explanation will follow.
The external organization
Our team will collaborate with S4S and the University. S4S wishes to place greenhouses at the JOOUST University. To make sure those greenhouses will actually be used, two groups of students will go to Bondo and organize a few matters:
- The cultivation of vegetables in the greenhouses
- The maintenance of the greenhouses
- A water supply system
- A sustainable plan
The other group is going to develop a course on greenhouse farming for local farmers. Once the farmers are interested in greenhouse farming our group is going to interest them to continue farming in the greenhouses of the University and to start saving money so they can eventually buy their own greenhouses. To make this plan sustainable, our group will make sure there is a reliable market for the products. Our group will try to collaborate with professor Andika to make a plan for the maintenance of the greenhouses. A water supply system will be build by our group when we are in Kenya. The money needed to do this will be provided by us. All of this will happen in cooperation with the University, since the plan will be executed on their property.
The internal organization
The next subjects need to be executed to succeed:
- A working business model : Nienke
- Entrepreneurial skills to build the water supply system : Floortje
- Research at the farmers homes to make an assessment on cultural dimensions : Esther
- Starting a saving plan : Floortje
- Organization of the maintenance of the greenhouse :Nienke
- Finding a way to interest the farmers in continuing greenhouse farming :Esther
- Provide a reliable market for the products :Floortje
- Finding a partner that will be responsible for the whole project once we leave :Nienke
- A long term plan for the next students to come :Esther
The name behind each subject says who will be responsible. Everything will be done in consultation with the whole group. Of course all the group members will help the responsible group member when needed, for example at building the water supply system.
